In honor of the South we made fried chicken for the last supper. There were many ingredients involved and we didn't know if the vital wheat gluton was instant or what and the poor kid in the bulk section of City Market was trying his best to help us (refilling the paprika and all) but he wasn't a "bulk person" so we just kinda wung it. Back at the house, the wheat gluton fell on the hairy floor and Ryan was pouting cause he wanted a breast but we couldn't shape the stuff into a breast so they were more like nugs. Good thing too cause after the nugs soaked up the broth they were huge and scary. They had to simmer for an hour meanwhile Chris was stirring them every 10 minutes (as instructed) and everytime he took off the lid I ran over to stare at the nugs cause they looked so weird! We forgot the gravy so C and I went back to City Market. Our cashier noticed we were both wearing rem shirts (unplanned mind you) and he says "you guys must be big rem fans" to which i replied "it wasn't planned." Chris bought me 3 packets of gravy because it was my special day. I was in charge of the potatoes. It was a hot chicken box in the kitchen and I was sweating and miserable as I mashed. I looked and felt like a milkmaid and i may have wet myself a little. All in all I think it took 2.5 hours to make dinner and about 10 minutes to eat. We kept eating and eating and talking about eating. The biscuits were the best part I think. We moaned for like an hour afterwards and then watched the Dark Crystal. Then we ate apple pie with with other treats and then I went home. Ryan ate all the nugs. I'm leaving Burlington first thing in the morning. Goodbye to my Vermont home.
